What Swash did

  • Swash provided Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) with onsite environmental supervision during construction works.
  • Working closely with the GCWA-appointed construction contractor, Swash assisted client to successfully achieve compliance with relevant environmental approvals/codes (Tidal Works, Marine Plants).
  • Environmental management and monitoring included water quality, marine plants, potential acid sulphate soils, sediment runoff and general waste.

About the project

GCWA widened the boat ramp at Alberton to improve traffic movement and meet increasing demand for waterways access in the city’s northern suburbs.

The existing one lane ramp was replaced with two 4-metre wide lanes and the approach to the ramp realigned.

This has enabled safer access for launching and retrieval and increased the number of boats able to use the ramp, especially during peak periods.

GCWA and its contractor needed to comply with relevant environmental approvals during construction of the Alberton boat ramp upgrade project.
